Your Costume Deserves More Than One Night: 29 Places to Wear It Around Portland, Beaverton and Vancouver

Four friends in Halloween costumes, a fairy, a knight, an alien and a vampire, checking a phone on a city street at night

Updated Oct 23, 2026

The short answer: Between Oct 23 and Oct 31, 2026, there are at least 29 costume-forward events across Portland, Beaverton and Vancouver, WA. Kids’ parades lead on Sunday, Oct 25 (Sellwood-Moreland Monster March and the Roseway Parkway parade, both 3pm). The biggest adult costume contests land on Halloween night, a Saturday: the Portland Spirit Boo Cruise, the Portland Erotic Ball and Club Rouge’s $500 finals.

Someone in your house has spent three weekends on a costume. Possibly you. Possibly with a hot glue gun and no exit strategy. Wearing it once to a porch and back is not a return on that investment.

So here is where to take it, sorted by area, with ages marked. Looking for free, all-ages events instead? That is our first post in this series.

Costume rules worth knowing

  • No weapons, real or fake, at the Portland Spirit Boo Cruise; masks must come off easily, and ID has to match your face.
  • Oregon Zoo Howloween bans full-face masks, weapons and inflatable costumes.
  • Bars and 21+ parties will check ID against your face. Plan the makeup accordingly.
  • Parades run rain or shine. A costume with a hood beats one with an umbrella.

Which night for which crew

  • Little kids: Hoffman Farms (Fri Oct 23), then a parade on Sunday Oct 25, then Vancouver Mall or Daniels Street on the 31st.
  • Families with a dog in a costume: Woodstock Spooktacular or Side B at The Callback, both Oct 31.
  • Couples: Syndicate Wine Bar on Oct 30, then the Boo Cruise on the 31st.
  • Competitive costumers: Club Rouge in either city. $500 is real money for a cardboard robot.

Why we pay attention to this

A neighborhood that shuts a street down so kids can parade in costume is showing you what living there feels like. Sellwood, Roseway, downtown Beaverton and Uptown Vancouver all do it. If you are weighing a move between them, we know these streets from both sides of the river: dillwardgroup.com.
