16 Free Halloween Events in Portland (2026)

Glowing jack-o'-lantern scarecrow and purple-lit trees at a free Halloween festival near Portland

Updated Oct 23, 2026

The short answer: Halloween 2026 lands on a Saturday, and the Portland metro has at least 16 free, all-ages ways to celebrate it. The big ones are the Woodstock Spooktacular (Oct 31, 3–6pm), the Sellwood-Moreland Monster March (Oct 25, 3pm), BOOverton in downtown Beaverton (Oct 25, 11am–3pm) and Halloween on Franklin Street in Vancouver (Oct 31, 5–9pm). Dates, times and addresses are below, checked against organizer pages on Oct 21.

Here is the thing about Halloween on a Saturday. Nobody has school the next morning, nobody has to leave a work happy hour early, and every neighborhood association in three counties has noticed. That is good news for your calendar and better news for your dentist.

We spend a lot of time in these neighborhoods photographing homes, and you learn something about a street by how it handles October. Some streets hand out full-size bars. Some streets build a functioning graveyard. Both are valid. Here is where to go without frightening your wallet.

Free all month long

Some yards go all in. Viewing is free; the skeletons are not for sale.
  • Davis Graveyard, Milwaukie (8703 SE 43rd Ave). A private home that has built a nationally known graveyard display since 1998. You view it from the street, there is no gore, and the effects run hardest on Friday and Saturday nights after dusk.
  • The Pumpkin Patch, Sauvie Island. No admission fee to walk the farm, open daily, October hours 10am–6pm. The pumpkins themselves, as pumpkins tend to be, are not free.
  • Spirit of Halloweentown, St. Helens. About 40 minutes northwest, weekends 11am–9pm through Nov 1. Walking the decorated downtown costs nothing. Event parking runs $25–30, street parking is free. Every dollar spent there keeps the small businesses behind all this decorating in business.
  • Home haunts and porch displays. Beaverton, Milwaukie and Lake Oswego each have a dozen-plus free yard haunts mapped on FrightMaps. Pack a thermos, pick a route, let the kids rank the houses.

Which one fits your crew

  • Toddlers and early bedtimes: Reed’s Crossing (11am), BOOverton (11am–3pm), Lake Oswego Monster Mash.
  • Kids who want to be seen in the costume: Monster March and the Roseway parade, both Sunday Oct 25 at 3pm. Pick one; they are across the river from each other.
  • Mixed ages, plus the dog: Woodstock Spooktacular. It has a doggy costume contest, which settles that.
  • Teens who claim they are too old for this: Davis Graveyard after dark. They will pretend not to be impressed. They will take 40 photos.
  • Vancouver side: Franklin Street at dusk, then the Foundation block party.

If it rains

It is Portland, so plan on it. The Monster March runs rain or shine. Davis Graveyard keeps its lights on but may skip effects in bad weather, so check its page. For something fully indoors, the Lake Oswego Monster Mash is the safest bet.

Why we pay attention to this

A neighborhood that throws a free parade for its kids is telling you something no listing description can. If you are house hunting and want a street that turns out for October, Woodstock, Sellwood-Moreland and downtown Beaverton make a strong first impression. Happy to show you around any of them at dillwardgroup.com.
